Faces of Roughfields

Faces of Roughfields is the newest project in the Save Roughfields campaign launched on the 21st July 2021 with hopes to be finished December 2021. We are taking photos of the local people who use Roughfields in order to document the different uses. This will eventually be used in an archive in a gallery. This will begin small in the local area of Glossop in hopes to end up in Manchester or even on TV.

Roughfields Official photographer

Today it was announced that I am going to be Roughfields Official Photographer! Here is the announcement. I can’t wait to get involved more and Save Roughfields

We are delighted to introduce Katie Wilde to the Save Roughfields Team. After spotting some of her fantastic photos on our page, we asked Katie if she would like to take on the role of Save Roughfields official photographer and she said “Yes!” Welcome, Katie!

Hi everyone!

My name is Katie, and I’m 17 years old. I have two dogs and four chickens. We moved to Hadfield in October 2020 to the Christmas house. Everyone I have met knows it like this. So, I’m relatively new to the area.

Due to covid-19, I haven’t explored the area that much, but now it’s coming to an end I’m looking forward to getting out more and looking for a part-time job around the college.

I started photography in 2018 as a hobby. In 2020 I began an a-level in photography, and I’ve developed my skills a lot more through this course. One of my favourite things to photograph would be sunsets as I love the colours and patterns the sky creates. I enjoy taking landscapes and dog photos a lot. As well as this, I like macro photography, which is taking photos of bees, flowers and other small items.

I am excited to be Roughfield’s official photographer to help Save Roughfields and getting to know more people in the community.

3rd bench installed on Roughfields

Roughfields Picnic Bench Installation

The community had raised £1000 in 6 days to be able to buy the picnic benches. People volunteered to help install these and I captured the process of installation. This couldn’t have been done without the brilliant community for raising the money and especially:

Halina the organiser,

Lee, Barb, Andy, Kasey, James, Sara, Graham, Paul, Cllr Ollie Cross for the hard labour

Murphy the dog

Carol and Martin for the lend of their hose and buckets

Debbie and Alison for the loan of their wheelbarrows

Mandi’s family for the donation of several bags of post concrete

Also to Cllr’s Baker, McKeown and Greenhalgh for helping with advice and administration processes.

More images from the day will be located on the save Roughfields Facebook page and website as well as under projects.

Roughfields Project

Roughfields is a field in Hadfield, Glossop, UK. The local community are campaigning to save it from having around 200 houses built on it. The aim is to unite the community as well as saving the green space in the high peak. Save Roughfields is a group of like-minded people who are passionate about keeping the High Peak green and protecting our open spaces. They are an independent group, not affiliated with any political parties. They aim to save Roughfields as an open space for the benefit of living things and future generations.

People here have many memories linked to Roughfields. It would be a shame to see it go. Here on Roughfields, there is a park for children to play on, a football pitch for older children and a huge space for dogs to run and play in the wild grass whilst you can admire the wildflowers.

On Roughfields, there is something for everyone.

YouTube Channel

In the past month, I have made a youtube channel. at the moment I am doing edit with me videos explaining the process I undergo to edit my images. currently, I am using two plugins which are the Topaz labs one and the Skylum Luminar 4. Up to now, I haven’t done a voice over for the videos. I have used captions instead. In the near future, I will begin doing voiceovers explaining the process more in-depth.
